Over recent years, awareness of the increasing environmental and pollution risks, of the limited amount of energy resources, of the complexity of infrastructure management and the protection of ecosystems, has risen in the Italian society and particularly in the institutions and in the entrepreneurial world

On one hand public bodies, driven by public opinion concerned about the environment, are called to implement legislative and financial policies aimed at opposing environmental emergencies; on the other hand, different private investors, motivated by considerations of the economic impact and by the conformity with the regulations of this sector, show an increasing interest in the protection of, and recovery from, damages to the environment and need innovative competences and technologies.

The development pattern we want to implement is that of an  innovation district or innovation cluster. It is a cluster of highly innovative structures, both small and medium-sized, developing on the same territory, giving rise to a rapid increase in economic performance. 

The Pta partners will work in close contact with each other: the Pole fosters co-operation between the research and the production systems, aiming to develop special integrated projects, industrial research projects and integrated services.

To become a partner of the Technological Pole of the Environment means, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises, to obtain those competitive advantages which are difficult to achieve when they work alone: the pole will thus be a district integrating the world of research with that of enterprises, helping to increase the competitiveness of each individual partner on national and international markets.

Such a pattern aims at fostering a process of economic enhancement and  environmental, scientific and technological research, which focus on the enterprises as entities capable of capitalizing on the results of research.
