The main goal of the Pta is that of enhancing the environmental activities already carried out, and yet to be carried out, in the region, and particularly in the province of Naples, by fostering the creation of a centre for excellence providing high tech services with all public and private parties concerned working together. The transformation project represented by the Executive Urban Plan of Bagnoli- Coroglio envisages the development of the unique environmental resources of the territory and the consolidation of the tourist-cultural services in the area, thus building an urban complex in which the new activities, residences, facilities for tourism, free time and entertainment, high tech production activities blend into the surrounding nature. The key elements for the transformation of this area are environment and nature: an extensive park of about 120 hectares is to occupy most of the area now being re-developed. Within the park, restoring some structures of industrial archaeology, facilities on an urban scale are to be built, as well as economic nodes of attraction and district services. An integrated area will be thus created, in which activities more linked to the sea, from swimming to sailing and nautical tourism, correspond to land activities, of a tertiary, residential and production nature all working in synergy with the surrounding districts. This transformation has already started with the opening of the first three sites already built: the Gateway to the Park, the Sports Park and the Thematic Aquarium. Planning for the building of the Urban Park, the Naples Studios and the Infrastructure is underway.
The Pta is intended to foster the co-operation between the makers of the innovation process, helping their consolidation and the constitution of a real territorial sector of innovation in the environmental field. The structure, in terms of construction, lighting, water and energy, is to be built according to the criteria of eco-efficiency, in order to represent the best practice within the environmentally friendly technological solutions.
